An American contractor for the U.S. Army in Kuwait, also a Christian, contacted The Christian Post in mid-April, saying that The Lighthouse Church (TLC) he attends was having difficulty renewing its lease. The man, who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons, said the lease was then suddenly terminated without explanation.
A villa church tied to the TLC congregation was later told by the landlord it had to pay an exorbitant fine each month to use a facility it had been renting, according to the Christian contractor. Church leaders reportedly decided not to argue and moved out.

BBC – “UN nuclear inspectors have found traces of uranium enriched at 27% at Iran’s Fordo nuclear site, a confidential report obtained by the BBC suggests.
The report by the nuclear watchdog IAEA comes a day after Iran and world powers held talks on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Iran says the aim of the Fordo site is to enrich uranium for civilian use up to a maximum of 20%, and the latest readings could be accidental.
Analysts say 27% would bring Iran closer to making weapons-grade uranium.
The latest report by the International Atomic Energy Agency says Iranian officials told inspectors that the production of such particles ‘may happen for technical reasons beyond the operator’s control’.

“PARK CITY — A couple tells police they returned home from a business trip to find over 100 fish dead, floating in their private pond.
It happened at 4 Hidden Splendor Court, located in the Thaynes Canyon neighborhood of Park City. Authorities are trying to determine if the fish had been poisoned and if the homeowners were the victims of a crime.
The pond is fed by a mountain spring and it is unclear if the water that flows into the pond is organically contaminated.
When the homeowners, Shan Ingleby and Loretta Paulus, returned from their trip at about 1 a.m. on Wednesday, they found fish either dead or thrashing about. They said the water level was slightly low, so they started filling it with a hose and the fish seemed to calm down. But by morning, they said, the bottom of the pond was covered with dead fish.

The city discovered the dead fish in Briar Creek near Chantilly Park on Monday after several people reported it to the city’s Storm Water Services Department.
‘All of our water quality tests are normal,’ said Jennifer Frost with Storm Water Services. ‘The heavy amount of rainfall we’ve seen this week has helped clean out whatever was there.’
Frost said there are no water advisories in effect for the creek or its surrounding tributaries.
Frost said the city typically sees large amounts of dead fish when oxygen levels in the water become too low. This can occur naturally or from a chemical introduced into the water, Frost said.

With the tourist season just kicking off, the unexplained deaths have yet to draw much scrutiny.
But environmentalists are increasingly alarmed. The dolphin carcasses are also turning into a real holiday spoiler for vacationers drawn to the region’s scenic beaches and pristine vistas.
Russian tourist Aida Kobzh was shocked to discover a group of dead dolphins last week at her local beach in Sochi.
‘Everyone stood there and stared at the dead little dolphins lying belly up. Poor creatures!’ Kobzh says. ‘There were some on the beach but also in the water, they were floating there, dead.’…

Nearly forty thousand fish died in the Ogeechee River last year. A textiles company — King America Finishing — was found to be at least partly to blame.
Here is the breakdown:
King America was fined one million dollars for illegal dumping of several chemicals not allowed in its permit.
Those include formaldehyde and ammonia.
The dumping had been going on for five years.
Just after our story aired this Monday on news three at six a viewer called and said he had seen more dead fish at 301 landing.

An unusually rainy fall lowered salinity levels in Pasadena creeks and rivers, apparently causing massive die-offs among young oysters planted as part of the state’s efforts to reinvigorate the oyster population of the Chesapeake Bay. In some areas all the spat planted were wiped out.
‘It’s a very serious situation,’ said Chris Judy, manager of the Marylanders Grow Oysters program. ‘We don’t want to see our oysters die. In in the four-year history of the program, this is the first time we’ve had such an event, so it was very unusual.’

RIANOSTOVI – “A new massive wave of deaths among the extremely endangered saiga antelope has been registered in northern Kazakhstan, the Agriculture Ministry’s press service said on Thursday.
The ministry said earlier that 540 saiga carcasses had been found in the Kostanai region of Kazakhstan.
‘Aviation monitoring today … discovered a new concentration of saiga deaths with the approximate number of dead animals reaching beyond 400,’ the ministry said.
Last year, at least 12,000 saiga died in western Kazakhstan, presumably from pasteurellosis infection and from overeating. In November 2010, Kazakhstan introduced a ban on saiga hunting.
The latest statistics put the number of saiga in Kazakhstan at 85,500. The country spends $800,000 annually to prevent the animals’ deaths.
Saiga were virtually exterminated in the 1920s but then increased their numbers in the Soviet Asian republics in the 1950s. The animals mostly became endangered because of hunting and the high demand…

State investigators expanded their probe Wednesday into what they believe are algae-related fish kills in Marley, Furnace and Curtis creeks in Glen Burnie, raising the estimated death toll there tenfold, while finding a new batch of finny carcasses in a Dundalk creek.
Jay Apperson, spokesman for the Maryland Department of the Environment, said the agency’s fish-kill investigators estimated anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000 fish of several species dead in the three creeks in northern Anne Arundel County. Only a day before, Apperson had said investigators figured there were about 6,000 dead.

It is hard to believe but today a secondmarch against a proposed road through the indigenous territory and national park TIPNIS (National Park and Indigenous Territory Isiboro Sécure) set off on its way to La Paz. Around 300 people, including representatives of indigeous movements CIODB and CONAMAQ, left the Amazonian town of Trinidad at 4.30pm. The first march between August and October 2011 covered over 350 miles on the same route (see map).
Why is there a second march after President Evo Morales approved a law on 24 October 2011 banning any road through the TIPNIS?
